About Me

Hi! My name is Rylea Johnson and this is my blog. I am currently 20 years old and a 3rd year student at the University of Waterloo. I am studying International Development (hence my blog title) with a minor in Geography and Environmental Management.

I am originally from just outside St. Thomas, Ontario, a city only known for its ability to kill an elephant (brilliant I know).  It’s not a place I’d ever want to stay in, however it served me well growing up. In the future I hope to find myself in a large city where I can continue my growth in the International Development field. Doing what in this field? That’s still undetermined, hopefully over the course of the next year I will be able to find my calling within the International Development world.

I like to keep busy with a variety of activities both in school and out. I played clarinet in my highschool band and violin in my spare time (still do so today). I love to play sports when I have the opportunity but soccer is by far my favorite. I also spend a great deal of time volunteering when I can, partaking in school events and have previously been a member of my students association. Outside of the conventional hobbies, I enjoy playing video games with my brothers and friends, geocaching with my family and reading. I live for the summer - it is my favorite time of the year, with lots of swimming, road trips, camping and (my most recent hobby) going to the drag strip (drag racing not other kinds of drag).

I have strong beliefs and standards that I will always standby. However,  I am also an extremely compassionate person at the same time. I accept others as they are and would never want someone to change to "fit in".  I believe the Earth is a truly beautiful place and that humanity has the opportunity to be something great if only we can change our conventional outlooks. There is a lot to know about me, not all of it listed here of course, but over the course of reading my blog you will get to know me.
